Vasant T. Shetty started his career in martial arts in the year 1985 at the age of 18. He took admitted to the Dadoji Konder Stadium class at thane on 12th August 1985. He received his black belt [SHODAN] within 2 years because of his hard work, dedication, and determination. He is the only black belt in India to receive the 5th Dan black belt within a short period of 5 years due to hard work and dedication which was spotted by the late grandmaster of KBI Mr. Chee Chew Soot, which is a world record in the KBI.

His first success was at the National tournament held at Hyderabad where he won a silver medal. This was the start of a run of success and then onwards his fame increased by leaps and bounds with his hard work and determination. He was awarded the Limca award as the “BEST FIGHTER” in the national tournament in 1996 at Yellore Andhra Pradesh. He has participated in many State, District, National, International, and open championships and won many medals. He has also participated in many international Championships in Malaysia, Canada, & Australia and brought laurels to the country. He has traveled the world through karate and considers himself privileged to have trained in countries like Malaysia, Canada & Australia,

He has the highest number of Grand championship titles [Champion of Champions] under his category. He has groomed many students under his training and guidance who have also participated in various tournaments and won many medals and grand championship trophies. He and his Students have won nearly 42 Grand championship trophies to date. This is a record all over India for the Maximum Champion of Champions Grand championship trophies won by his club “RAINBOW BUDOKAN KARATE ACADEMY” among which he has a lion’s share of 15 trophies. He has been appointed as Technical Chief of India in the year 2000. He has also formed a club named INDIA’S BUDOKAN BLACK BELT CLUB which is the first club in India only for black belts. He is in the field of Karate for the last 19 years and still continues to be as energetic and hard-working as he was in the early days of his career.
